HIT hosted the 2018 Chinese Society of Engineering Thermophysics Heat and Mass Transfer Academic Conference and the National Natural Science Foundation Heat and Mass Transfer Project Progress and Exchange Conference

HIT News (Yue Hao & Yang Jiayu/Text Yu Bowen/Picture) From October 13th to 14th, the 2018 Chinese Society of Engineering Thermophysics Heat and Mass Transfer Academic Conference and the National Natural Science Foundation Heat and Mass Transfer Project Progress and Exchange Meeting were held in Harbin. The two conferences were hosted by the Chinese Society of Engineering Thermophysics and the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and organized by Harbin Institute of Technology. More than 1,070 experts and scholars from 148 units exchanged views on the frontier issues in the field of heat and mass transfer.

Guo Zengyuan, Academician of Tingshua University; Tao Wenquan, Academician of Xi'an Jiaotong University; Zheng Ping, Academician of Shanghai Jiaotong University; Xuan Yimin, Academician of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics; He Yaling, Academician of Xi'an Jiaotong University; Qin Yukun, Academician of Harbin Institute of Technology; Ji Jun, Director of Engineering Division III of the National Natural Science Foundation’s Department of Engineering and Materials Science; Zhang Xing, Vice Chairman of the Chinese Society of Engineering Thermophysics, Director of the Heat and Mass Transfer Branch, and Executive Chairman of the International Heat Transfer Conference; Du Jianyi, Secretary General of the Chinese Society of Engineering Thermophysics; and Han Jiecai, Vice President of HIT, attended the opening ceremony.

Han Jiecai said in his speech that Harbin Institute of Technology hopes that experts and scholars will take this meeting as an opportunity to broaden performance and deepen cooperation in order to excavate new growth points in the field of heat and mass transfer, thus improving innovation ability and jointly promoting the research development and young talent cultivation in the field of heat and mass transfer.

The conference was divided into 18 sub-forums in which academic exchanges were conducted, such as heat conduction, micro-nano scale heat transfer, convection heat transfer, microchannel convection, radiation heat transfer, heat and mass transfer in porous media, heat storage, thermoelectric conversion, and supercritical fluid heat transfer. Furthermore, oral presentations on outstanding young papers were carried out.
